Description
The Fernández y González project is a delicate balance between tradition and modernity. By respecting the original integrity of the building, the intervention enhances its character through a reinterpretation of its tripartite façade composition, where the proportions of openings vary according to their architectural hierarchy. The integration with the urban fabric has been a key design consideration, ensuring that the building harmoniously coexists with its surroundings and the adjacent structures that define the block’s corner.
The building program follows a mixed-use approach, with the ground floor and mezzanine dedicated to commercial and service activities, including three retail spaces and the hotel lobby. From the first floor to the rooftop, the structure houses 95 guest rooms, including 10 suites, as well as high-quality communal spaces: multipurpose halls, a fitness center, a restaurant, a café, and a rooftop pool with a solarium.
The façade is a contemporary reinterpretation of its original design, where vertical openings are accentuated through the addition of glass pilasters featuring intricate Arabic latticework. This semi-transparent element introduces a soft filter of light into the rooms, an effect further enhanced by steel balcony railings that echo the same ornamental pattern. The result is a sophisticated interplay of light and shadow, lending the building a timeless and refined presence.
