Urban Regeneration and Municipal Facilities Project
This project consists of a series of interventions aimed at improving and revitalizing various urban and municipal spaces to enhance residents’ quality of life and provide more accessible, sustainable, and functional infrastructure.
1. Street Redevelopment
Several streets in poor condition are renovated with the implementation of shared pedestrian and vehicular platforms, resurfacing, improved sidewalks, and new public lighting. Architectural barriers are removed, new traffic signage and acoustic traffic lights are installed, and a video surveillance system is implemented. The green area between Plaza Mazaco and Alegrías is also rehabilitated with new urban furniture to enhance the space.
2. Redevelopment of the Plaza del Mercadillo and Municipal Facilities
This space is transformed into a multi-purpose municipal area, combining its function as a market and sports facility. The project includes a new perimeter fence with controlled access, the reorganization of the marketplace to accommodate up to 80 stalls, and the installation of light roofing structures for shade. Additionally, a decorative fountain is placed at the entrance, along with an independent skate park and a community association building set within a landscaped area.
3. Redevelopment of the Industrial Park Access Road
A comprehensive regeneration of the road connecting the neighborhood to the industrial park is undertaken, including sidewalk improvements, road maintenance, and tunnel refurbishment. The project also integrates the technical solution for upgrading the Carrascalejo Stream culvert system.
4. Enhancement of the “Antonio Asenjo” Sports Complex
This sports facility is upgraded with a new perimeter fence, removal of architectural barriers, and the creation of new areas, including an accessible playground, a designated dog park, and an outdoor fitness zone with specialized equipment. A recreational water fountain with vertical jets is installed, and the landscape is improved with additional greenery and shaded areas.
5. Renovation and Expansion of Casa Barrio
The existing building is expanded with a new annex at the rear patio, featuring a fully equipped kitchen and a multi-purpose room. The two structures are connected through a covered gallery. The patio is repaved, citrus trees are planted, photovoltaic panels are installed, and the building façade is fully restored.
6. Comprehensive Rehabilitation of Plaza El Limonar
Accessibility improvements are made to this public space, particularly important due to its location on a steep slope. The vegetation is renewed, and the central areas are adapted for new sports facilities, including 3×3 football and basketball courts, shaded seating areas, and children’s play zones.
7. Adaptation of the Integration Center
The existing outdoor staircase providing access to the upper floor is replaced with a new structure that meets current regulations. Additionally, new equipment is introduced to improve the functionality of the upper floor.
8. Fencing and Access for Urban Gardens
An unused space is repurposed into urban gardens. The area is enclosed with a masonry wall facing the street and a wire mesh fence facing the road, including a gated entrance. The land is organized into individual plots with a water supply for irrigation, and the sloped area is prepared for the planting of fruit trees.
