Description

This project aims to adapt the crypt of the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Estrella in Coria del Río for the installation of a columbarium. The intervention takes place in a subterranean space, located below street level, with the goal of preserving its historical essence while providing it with a new function.

The flooring will be renovated with a beige marble finish or similar material, maintaining harmony with the overall aesthetics of the columbarium. The burial niches will be arranged in orthogonal wooden structures, each enclosed with wooden doors adorned with metal stars, symbolizing light and transcendence.

A key element of the project is the restoration of the ceiling, allowing for the recovery and enhancement of the original brick vaults. Additionally, at the central axis of the gallery, a skylight will be installed with a glass structure designed to refract light and direct it towards the communal urn, which takes the shape of a stone brazier.

The walls of the columbarium will feature religious-themed frescoes created by local artists, adding a unique symbolic and artistic character to the space. The intervention seeks to blend materiality and light in a way that fosters a serene atmosphere, ideal for contemplation and spiritual reflection.
